Supporting a Warehouse

Updated: Apr 27, 2023

Except this isn't just any warehouse. It's a cross between a steel building and a suspension bridge. The customer removed old air handling units which shifted the roof load. Water began to pool in two areas during a heavy rain. Southern Shoring was called in to install post shoring inside to support the roof. Shoring this structure had a few unique challenges. The roof was designed to move in high winds, and normally when shoring is installed, movement is the last thing you want. We fabricated brackets to clamp the shoring legs to the roof beams and anchored the posts to the floor, allowing the roof to flex. Additionally, as we installed the shoring, we constantly went back to ensure the posts and brackets were still snug against the roof beams. Another minor challenge was the fact that several bundles of shoring were 11'9" long, and we had to bring them in & out through a 10' wide door. We shored this building almost 1.5 years ago, as one of our first jobs, it still stands out.

If you have a project that will need structural shoring, or end up needing it in a pinch, give us a call. We’re here to support you.
